so this song, 'single ladies (put a ring on it)' is beyonce's latest contribution to the world. it is omnipresent. the thing is, i like the beat - it's great to dance to. but i don't think i'm big on the message its sending.

come on,"if you liked it, then you should have put a ring on it."? isn't the divorce rate closing in on 1000%? the last thing we need is more young people (particularly the increasingly brainless population of twenty-something women) hell-bent on getting married and reproducing offspring they will inevitably ruin. it's cynical, i know. but it's a little bit true. admit it.

in sum, please do not put a ring on it. please do not put a ring on anything. no wedding rings, no engagement rings, no ringtones, no lord of the rings. let's just go ahead and avoid them altogether now, ok? great.
