*shit. i'm glad i'm over that whole quiz business...that was circus style if i do say so myself.

*well, about this whole omaha thing. it's gotten much better since everyone got home. as i noted earlier, i tournamented this weekend and the team was amazing as usual. it just goes to show what good mentors we were...right 03s? i thought so. anyway, saturday night proved to be just as exciting. we partied hard at big mike's...let me tell you, them's were goooooood times. just about every person i ever spoke to over the course of high school was there and we all got along just fine - alcohol tends to do that. it was refreshing to party without drama. it was the first time that had happened in well... um...i'm pretty sure it was a first.

monday found me lunching with fisch and the 03 winter players (except peter jensen) and it was good as well...mostly because fisch not only payed, but called adam on selling out to hawk during spring play last year. i'll just say that catching up and sharing drunken college stories is ALWAYS a good time. everyone should try it.

that night, we convened on sam's house and watched some old movies from freshman year and their middle school years. good times were had by all.

and the taco bell guy definitely look way down my shirt.

cody, you never really had a fat ass...and i still don't really see the difference between all those damn pitches.

*leaving for rantoul tomorrow to spend christmas with the family. back on sunday to go to the winter play girl's night out. i'll be chaperoning...now that's comical isn't it?

*time to pour one out for Jesus!

*That is all...thank you.

*10 quizzes in one day...i need an intervention...or maybe i'll just go to bed. yeah, that seems most likely now doesn't it?
*most excellent...but really, does it matter which one? he's delicious any way you look at it...

^Aloha...holy it's weird to be graduated batman!

^So I'm home now. Yep. Home. Home diddly ome. That's right. JESUS CHRIST I'M BORED OUT OF MY MIND. Ahem. Yes. No one is here. But that will soon be changing. Sara and Chang will get here in a couple of hours, Jen comes back tomorrow, and Molly and Allyson come back on Saturday. A visit to Big Mike (the resident Van Wilder) must also take place very very soon. Things are looking up. Soon it will be time to get ridiculous...

^I took the train to get here. It was interesting to break the Amtrak hymen. All I have to say is that I'm taking the train wherever I go now - and that includes to the mailbox and all other local destinations. With two dining cars, a viewing car, Pirates of the Carribbean and 3 feet between seats, is there any other way to travel? I must say that this eases my mind about my 19 hour train ride to New York for spring break. See, Matt, we won't have to suffocate ourselves out of boredom! Yay!

^So I went back to old hellhole today. (Hellhole also being pronounced high school and making reference to Millard North.) I won't lie - it was a great ego booster. Everyone was all like. "Meh, Taria, we missed you so much - you were so brilliant - what is college like - we love you - we are solely beneath you and will do your evil bidding," er, uh, something like that in any event. I'll be going back with Sara and Chang tomorrow and then I'll join the team at the UNL tournament on Saturday. (Wherein I know my team will smoke everyone else, not unlike a tobbacco substance akin to a "fat blunt," seeing as how we taught them so well before we left - raised em up right so to speak.) Lincoln East will be there, and you KNOW what that means...God, I can't wait to see the look on Johnny Perez's face...

^I'll be in Omaha until Tuesday (I'll be back for New Year's when I intend to get VERY drunk), at which point the parental unit and I will head over to Rantoul, IL to spend the usual Christmas with "the fam," if you will...and you will. Should be interesting - there is a family dispute afoot and those always make for a good time...at least from my perspective. If nothing else, I will be able to escape my boredom for a day for I will get to spend some quality time with Max. I discovered that he lives suspiciously close in a town (Bloomington) equally a vapid and uninteresting as Rantoul, so we will pass some of our boredom together. Maybe we'll make the half-hour trek to the nearest mall. Pitifull...

^In any event, it is my intention to enjoy this break to the fullest...the very fullest. The kind of fullest that is only legal in Europe at my age. Thank you, College, for giving me just enough time off so that I can fall out of my studious attitudes and routines.

^That is all...thank you.

P.S. Fellow O-towners...bring it on...

^Aloha... what up jeeves?

^Stupid fuck ass shit snow. I don't recall saying that this was okay. I'm going to go pout now. I just had to get that off my chest...I'll post something legitimate tomorrow.

^It's good to be home...Did I just say that about Omaha?

^That is all...thank you.

^Aloha... and when was it last to feel so sweet and breathe you in, a sigh of relief?

^I feel so much better this morning. I just got back from whipping some ass up on my honors stats final. I think I got a really high B or a low A on it. But truth be told, I don't give a flying fuck what I got on it as long as it means that I pass the class with a C (which is not a problem since i have an A in the class already). The thing is that I'm finally fucking done with math classes for the rest of my life. I can't explain how wonderful that feels. Especially since I'm a goddamn theatre, philosophy and english major. Gen eds are so silly. When will I ever need to compute a 95% confidence interval for the average weights of passengers and their luggage...OR FOR ANYTHING ELSE FOR THAT MATTER? That's right kids...math can eat me raw and like it!

^I think I'm going to make up with Matt. I don't like fighting with him...I love him and I know it. That is to say WE love each other and WE know it. There's only like 3 more days until I won't see him for 3 weeks and I don't want to part on bad terms, mainly because I know we'll both miss each other and regret fighting. Yes, he did hurt me, but he knows it now and he apologized profusely. At first I didn't feel anything, and my inner monologue was just screaming "Weirded out..." But after sleeping on it and enjoying a gloomy morning, I am in better spirits and I no longer regard him as the bane of my existence. I don't think I was ever mad, per se. No, anger never had any part in the matter - I just wanted to cry all the damn time. For all anyone else knew, I had decided to be emo for the rest of my life and was headed for scarves, and stocking caps and Dashboard Confessional...good God, I'm glad I put a stop to that...

^And don't think for a second, you Wellness Center bitches, that just because of this spat I have forgotten about my cold that's turning into the flu and my inability to get a flu shot. May God have mercy on one of our souls if I should ever meet any of you in a dark ally...

^I'm off to go sell back some fuck ass textbooks. Hinduism, English 106, Honors Stats, Crafts = asses kicked...what, DSTP, you want some, too? Well I'll see your punk ass on Friday. Until then, party up!

^That is all...thank you.
^Aloha...i want so badly to believe...

^I don't understand. I don't understand it at all. And I don't like it. It's slowly but surely driving me crazy. I can't handle it. I don't like to cry- and this has had me crying for nearly a whole day. At first I thought it would be one of those cries that's relieving. But all I feel is emptier. Is my heart broken? It seems like such a miunscule issue...so then why can't I get past it...why can't I stop feeling so disheartened and afraid and stupid? I wish I someone would sing me to sleep...it sounds so much prettier than tears...

^That is all...thank you.

^Aloha...I am finally seeing that I was the one worth leaving - Postal Service

^Ye Olde Finals Week is upon us. Everyone is in a surprisingly good mood on the floor. I hear things aren't going so well up on the 4th floor...but that's what they get...bitches. (With the exception of Brian, Hannah, and Ashley). Some people study by spending all day in the study lounge with their noses in Bio books and some people study by spending all night in Hamilton's with their noses in frosty cold beer glasses. I've been oscillating between the two. Sunday night and Monday morning were pretty circus style as I studied for Hiduism by writing 20 pages worth of essays and committing them to memory. But it really paid off when I went to the final and just had to regurgitate those essays onto paper. I think I may try this study thing more often. I had an "English final" this morning, wherein we wrote letters to ourselves about where we wanted to be next year, in four years, and in ten years. Yes, I will actually be graded on this and it's worth about 30% of my entire grade. Can you really even call that a final? Can you really even call that a class? In any event I have an Honors Stats final at 8 tomorrow (which is just plain rude) and a DSTP final on Friday at some time...I should probably find that out relatively soon shouldn't I?

^In other news: Christmas cocktail parties are out of control wonderful and pre-partying in my room with Best Friend, Ian, Matt, and Elyse should be a requirement to graduate. Thrissa, Erin, and Lisa had a lovely little shindig last Saturday and OH MY GOD IT WAS A GOOD NIGHT. Everyone was fabulously dressed up and liquored up and just having a blast. Word around town is that I made out with Matt under the mistletoe. While I have complete memory of all other events of the evening, I will continue to deny that I have any recollection of this...even if I do.

^But alas, all good things must come to an end. Lately, I've been feeling extraordinarily sad. I'm not quite sure why, but I think it might stem from some feelings of being abandonned by Matt and knowing that when I go back to Omaha I will have to deal with those silly ass motherfuckers...but mostly because of Matt. I don't where this relationship is going and since I'm secretly a control freak...well... you know... I'm also getting sick. Right now, I think it's just a cold, but I worry it could turn into the flu, as I have been having a few of those symptoms. Now, I'm sure you're saying, "Well, Taria, why don't you just zip on down to the Wellness Center and get a flu shot?" Well, asshole, I can't get one. They only have the vaccine that people with asthma shouldn't get...go fucking figure. So if this DOES turn into the flu, you can bet your sweet ass that someone is going to have to pay...

^If you feel compelled to cheer me up...I'll be around...and very grateful...

^Countdown to ChilliFest at the brother's apartment...4 days

^Countdown to O-town and my own bed...5 days

^That is all...thank you.

^Aloha...two class days and then finals...i should study...nah...

^I have triumphantly returned from the old Thanksgiving break. It was out of control wonderful. There's nothing like gorging myself silly and sleeping 15 hours a day to put me in a good mood. The only thing I didn't enjoy about the break was Quintin. I made the mistake of feeling sorry for him when he said he wouldn't be going home and invited him along. He was a whiny little bitch the whole time. *Note to self - there is a reason why you are such a bitch, Taria. It's to keep things like this from happening...*End note. Therefore, Q will never be invited to go to Grandma's house...or anywhere with me for that matter. Excellent, that being said, let's move on.

^I took all my laundry down with me so I could wash it for free. Now it's staring at me from across the room, daring me to try and ignore it. But you see, the joke's on it, because I am one lazy mother fucker...

^I saw Finding Nemo and Monster's Inc this weekend. I squirted a couple of tears during each of them. They were SO good. I have decided that the seagulls were my favorite and that I am only watching Pixar movies from here on in...

^Hmm...this post was one rambling piece of shit wasn't it? Guess it's time for me to let go of all the black tar heroin, eh? But oh, I love it so...

^That is all...thank you.

^Aloha...Grandma's food...oh jesus!

^grumble. can't sleep any more. someone called at 8:30 this morning and hung up when i answered. fuck that shit. don't people know that they should NEVER make phone calls before noon? especially to a college student...so now i am annoyed, and will make you annoyed by continuing to type without propper use of capitalization. sorry, that's just the way it's got to be.

^as you well-know, i have been much of the emotional persuasion lately. i did a little snooping and found a little something from american beauty that i thought kind of summed it all up:

...There's so much beauty in the world. Sometimes I fee like I'm seeing it all at once, and it's too much, my heart fills up like a balloon that's about to burst...and then I remember to relax, stop trying to hold on to it, and then it flows through me like rain and I can't feel anything but gratitude...

^maybe it's because of this whole ian business, or because of all that's been going on in the show (or lack thereof at this point, it being over and all), or because it's the end of the semester, or because i'm just still a little delirious from being sick, but i've got that strange feeling again. no, mary, not THAT one...that got all cleared up...wink, wink...but from time to time i feel like i'm full of something and that i'm on the verge of it all just exploding from me. i know that sounds less than brill and perhaps slightly like a made for tv movie, but i honestly can't describe it any other way. and to top things off, i've been listening to colorblind (counting crows) so you KNOW it must be bad.

^there's so much more i want to talk about...real things that happened and whatnot, but classes await me...i will (of course) leave you with more lyrics.

i am colorblind
coffee black and egg white
pull me out from inside
i am ready
i am ready
i am ready
i am taffy stuck and tongue tied
studder shook and uptight
pull me out from inside
i am ready
i am ready
i am ready
i am fine
i am covered in skin
no one gets to come in
pull me out from inside
i am folded amd unfolded and unfolding
i am colorblind
coffee black and egg white
pull me out from inside
i am ready
i am ready
i am ready
i am fine...

^Aloha...Brett Bretterson IS real, he just goes by his codename: Brett Mann

^And now for something completely different: ANOTHER SONG... (there is an actual post somewhere down there if you want to skip these lyrics)

Make me a witness
Take me out ... out of darkness -
Out of doubt.
I won't weigh you down with good intentions -
Won't make fire out of clay,
Or other inventions.

Will we burn in heaven like we do down here?
Will the change come while we're waiting?
Everyone is waiting.

And when we're done soul searching
And we carry the weight ... and die for a cause -
Is misery made beautiful right before our eyes?
Will mercy be revealed -
Or blind us where we stand?

Will we burn in heaven like we do down here?
Will the change come while we're waiting?
Everyone is waiting.

^I am SO unhappy right now. Tonight is the night of the cast party for my first show and guess where I am: my mother fucking room. My voice is absolutely gone and I still have a show to do tomorrow - drinking copious amounts of alcohol would certainly not be appropriate at this juncture. But OH how I want to go. This was going to be the best party I'd been to so far AND there was going to be a certain someone there that I would very very very much like to be with tonight. BUT NO.

^Hey, does anyone remember that time when on Halloween weekend this year Jacob and Kara and then Laura had the biggest parties of the semester and I couldn't go because I was in the hospital? Oh yeah...about that...

^That is all...thank you.

^Aloha...holy diva much Batman?

^Whatev, it's totally a different day now...

What ravages of spirt conjured this temtress rage?
Created you a monster - broken by the rules of love...
And fate has led you through it ...you do what you have to do.
And fate has led you through it ...you do what you have to do.

But I have the sense to recognize that I don't know how to let you go.

Every moment marked with apparitions of your soul.
I'm ever swiftly moving, trying to escape this desire.
The yearning to be near you ... I do what I have to do.
The yearning to be near you ... I do what I have to do.

But I have the sense to recognize that I don't know how to let you go.

Glowing ember, burning hot and burning slow.
And deep within I'm shaken by the violence of existing for only you.
I know I can't be with you ... I do what I have to do.
I know I can't be with you ... I do what I have to do.

And I have the sense to recognize, but I don't know how to let you.
I don't know how to let you go.

^Aloha...holy two songs in one day, Batman!

^I can't help it. I'm not in my right mind and you all know it. I know, I know, I know - I'm going to Blogger Hell for this...

Please forgive me if I act a little strange,
For I know not what I do.
Feels like lightning runnin through my veins
Every time I look at you ... Every time I look at you.

Help me out here all my words are fallin short.
And there's so much I wanna say.
Wanna tell you just how good it feels
When you look at me that way ... When you look at me that way.

Throw a stone and watch the ripples flow,
Moving out across the bay.
Like a stone, I fall into your eyes -
Deep into that mystery ... Deep into some mystery.

I got half a mind to scream out loud.
I got half a mind to die.
So I won't ever have to lose you -
Won't ever have to say goodbye -
Won't ever have to lie ... Won't ever have to say goodbye.

Please forgive me if I act a little strange,
For I know not what I do.
Feels like lightning running through my veins
Every time I look at you ... Every time I look at you ...
Every time I look at you ... Every time I look at you ...
^Aloha...::slap:: Quiet, you fool!

^Wow, I'm still all giddy and stupid right now. I'm twitterpated Kristin...there's no use trying to fight it. You know what that means, don't you? I will slowly but surely lose all ability to form comprehensive thoughts and my posts will, over time, degenerate from cohesive thoughts to their equivalent in song lyrics. Hmmm...I might as well start right now. mightn't I?

Heaven bent to take my hand
And lead me through the fire -
Be the long awaited answer
To a long and painful fight.
Truth be told, I tried my best -
But somehwere along the way
I got caught up in all there was to offer.
And the price was so much more than I could bear.

Though I've tried, I've fallen -
I have sunk so low,
I've messed up...
Better I should know.
So don't come round here
And tell me I told you so.

We all begin with good intent,
And love was raw and young.
We believed that we could change ourselves -
The past could be undone.
But we carry on our backs the burden
Time always reveals
In the lonely light of morning,
In the wound that would not heal.
It's the bitter taste of losing everything I held so dear

I've fallen -
I have sunk so low,
I messed up...
Better I should know.
So don't come round here
And tell me I told you so.

Heaven bent to take my hand
Nowhere left to turn.
I'm lost to those I thought were friends -
To everyone I know.
Oh, they turned their heads, embarrassed,
Pretend that they don't see
That it's one misstep and slip before you know it.
And there doesn't seem a way to be redeemed.

Though I've tried, I've fallen -
I have sunk so low,
I've messed up...
Better I should know.
So don't come round here
And tell me I told you so.
^Aloha...Hooray for opening of Twelfth Night!

^So wow...what can I say? Well I could say a lot, like "Connor, quit being such a rim job, you tree-fucking son of a bitch mother fucker." ...but I think that would be unecessary. And we all know I would NEVER use such foul language!

^Yes...I think that time has come again. That time where I stop being so horrendous and let everyone have a little peek at that softer and sensitive side that I keep so well concealed. Well, it has once again come to my attention that I am in love with love. From the sea of butterflies to the keen awareness of the intensity of all the beauty there is to find in the world...seriously y'all. It all leaves me breathless.

^ Words are poor convoys of meaning in this situation, but I can liken it to the feeling of glowing. No, not that strange and uncomfortable glow of someone that just had sex, but that soft and sensuous glow that surrounds someone trying to hold in too much perfection. Walking down the street, my hair and the leaves will blow around and fall about my face, the sun will hold my eyes in suspense, making them into brown pools of pure joy and I only take note of these things when I feel like I'm in love.

^But I don't think I'm ready to call it love. Molly, Kara, you know how I am about these things. I'm so wary of admitting my feelings about someone; I loathe vulnerability...I fear it more than most tangible things I'm scared of...including spiders. If it came down to kicking it old school with an arachnid versus revealing my attraction to someone...I would find myself pouring one out for my homies with a Daddy Long Legs - shudder. It's a little embarassing to be so afraid of rejection and getting hurt. I suppose I should file it under "Teen Angst" and just get on with it.

^For all of you that know me...you know how this whole thing works. It's all pink and dolls and dresses and tea parties from here on in. I think I'm just going to go with it, versus flailing against it with all the force in my being. Go with it. That's a new concept...I think I just might like it.

^Yeah...I like that.

^That is all...thank you.

P.S. I am so in love it's ridiculous...now would be a good time to make friends with me...

^Aloha...Get excited! (that's for you, Andy)

^Sorry I never finished the story about the hospital. All you really need to know is that they stole my blood a whole lot, poked my abdominal organs a whole lot, gave me thirty million different tests, and santa claus and a gay man gave me a pelvic exam....I'll let you fill in the rest with whatever wacky details you want.

^That is all...thank you.

Sunday, November 02, 2003

^Aloha... Jen, I think I have just reached the limit of wacky points attainable in one week..

^Okay, so about my organ meats being afflicted. I was at the Wellness Center for a follow up appointment and more chatter about how they have no idea what the hell is wrong with me, when the nurse practitioner decides to send me to the ER for a catscan to make sure I don't have appendicitis. "I send people to the ER all the time. It will only take a couple of hours," she says. This was Wednesday. Cut to Saturday...when I was discharged from the hospital.

^So I know most people have been wondering where the hell Taria was these past few days. Yep, I was in the clink...er uh, the medical clink so to speak. Now it's time for some play by play action of my St. Francis adventures.

^The ER doctor = so hot. It was out of control. And as he poked and prodded my poor organs, he noticed how scared I was of having some severe affliction and held my hand. And then I had mind sex with him...twice. I have very nice nurses who load me up with IVs and things. My other ER doctor makes me laugh heartily with her wit and sarcasm; I enjoy her immensely...until she has to put her finger in my ass...that was highly UNenjoyable. I have a crazy catskan and my next ER doctor tells me in a heavy German accent that "You ahhpendeex ist a leetle beet of dee svollen." The nurses steal my blood and urine and I am admitted. I get to go to my room at 2:00 AM...sleep visits me briefly...but runs away.

^This concludes day one. Waiting was the name of this game...so I started to read "Me Talk Pretty One Day"

Now is the time for shopping with Quintin. I will finish this later....

^That is all...thank you.

Wednesday, October 29, 2003

^Aloha...Andy was right...sleep IS silly. And so are monkey-penguin hybrids.

^My organ meats are afflicted. I feel like I'm dying. None of the "fine" medical practitioners in the Wellness Center know what's wrong with me.

^ Did I mention that I feel like I'm dying?

^Because I do.

^That is all..thank you.

^Aloha...aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnd SCENE!

^This concludes one family weekend. It was really good to see my mommy. I didn't realize I missed her that much. And my grandma and my aunt were here, so you KNOW it was a good time. Sorry I didn't introduce you to any of them...I was just being selfish. But then again what's new?

^ I learned two invaluable lessons today.
1) It is virtuous and comical to take advantage of the university.
2) Squirrels at Loyola are carazy (spoken a la brian fellow)

1) When you register for family weekend, you have to pay $25 per person. For this, you get a t shirt, one copy of the crappy Phoenix, a parenting magazine, admittance to the overwhelmingly stupid activities that no one goes to and brunch on Sunday morning. Now we didn't go to any of the activities so it would seem as though they paid $25 for the brunch, which is under no circumstances worth that much unless you brazenly steal 6 dozen cookies and hide them in the stupid little tote bag they give you at registration. That is what my aunt and I did. We are awsome. This cannot be denied.

2) As I was walking back from sending the family on their merry way, a squirrel crossed my path. I was amused at first because I noticed said squirrel appeared to be carrying in its mouth something that looked strikingly similar to one of the various assortments of yum-yums that were present at the brunch. But what really got me was when the squirrel stopped right in front of me and looked me right in the eye. Then I'm pretty sure it gave me the "what's up?" nod. You know, the one that heterosexual males use in place of saying hello. Then the squirrel took his yum-yum and his "what's up?" nod and was gone.

^ The caption above my head read "Weirded out!"

^That is all...thank you.

Saturday, October 25, 2003

^Aloha...oh he's hot, andy foxhoven, and he's all mine. so you stay away from him mister man!

^Ah yes, it is once again that time of year. That time when we all register to have Loyola take our money so that we can all come together and pretend like we're not dysfunctional. You guessed it, it's family weekend.

^I've never seen so much exploitation of the parental pocketbooks. No one is all that excited to see their family. Everyone is that excited to see their parents' monies. And I am as guilty of is as the next destitute undergrad. Never let it be said that any of us are naive about what's REALLY going on here.

^That is all...thank you.

P.S. 6 DAYS UNTIL SIMPSON DOMINATION...

^Aloha...."let me begin with my balls on your chin"

^Yeah, so some people should be at class right now. Some people are named Taria. Hey, lower that questioning eyebrow. I'm in college, I don't have to go to class. I'm a big girl now. Besides, class is merely a suggestion... and a silly one at that. So I have opted to stay home and do deviant things which have yet to be determined at this juncture. It's not that I don't WANT to go to class - I rather enjoy a good hearty discussion of MLA format now and then - it's just that I find myself getting worn down at this point. It's the university's fault, really. I mean who puts fall break at the beginning of November? Yeah, that's what I thought.

Monday, October 20, 2003

^Aloha... Shit, I had another good weekend. Last week I was puished for it by both of my favorites losing their Game 7s. What will it be this week?

^ I am feeling moody as of late. I know, that's crazy talk. But for some reason I've just been feeling emotional lately. No, not emo Kristin. You don't see me lying face down on my bed with a scarf and stocking cap on now do you?

^But I digress. I think I miss the simplicities of sitting down and getting to know people. As of late I've been meeting so many people from the theatre dept and they all seem to know me and are in love with me. But I want to sit down with them and just talk. Ignoring what they've heard, ignoring what I've heard and just talk.

^Hmm...I don't think that paragraph made any sense whatsoever, but I bet if I pretend that it did, everyone else will be none the wiser.

^Moving on, I think I've been here long enough that I'm ready to move back into the nice phase. For those of you that are new to the various functions of Taria, here they are:
I First, I'm a really nice person.
II. Then I'm a really mean person with regards to my sarcasm.
III. And then I go back to being nice again.
Not many people make it through to the third stage. But I am feeling rather generous with my affections these days (I think that has something to do with the infamous Ian), so you all might just be in luck.

^So if anyone has any interest in getting to know me better, I am currently accepting applications.

^And in conclusion, sometimes gross stuff can be funny.

^That is all...thank you.

^Aloha....is Simpson 2nd floor really bad luck for the cubbies?

^So I went down to Wrigleyville last night to watch as the Cubs pounced on the Marlins in a final show of true grit and wonderful sportsmanship, securing their place in the World Series and ending this terrible curse.

Things didn't work out quite as I had planned.

But I did get to witness the Marlins' MVP in action...I even got a picture of him. If you want to see it, click here.

^Yeah, that's him during the eighth inning. His life is officially over. Gov. Jeb Bush offered his ass asylum for a free 3 month stay in an oceanfront condo. He'd better take it. Otherwise, he's dead.

^So dead.

^That is all...thank you.

^Aloha...yeah, I knew this was coming...

Sloth
You are Sloth!
Lazy huh ?? You're a bit slow in getting going -
and tend not to do anything unless it is
absolutely necessary. You'd rather sit around,
watch TV/Sleep then go out and about with
friends, or take part in a sporting event. On
the positive side, you tend to be quite smart,
as you spend a lot of time watching the News
(!!) or on the computer, Also by conserving
your energy, it's right there waiting for you
when it's vitally important to get going.
Consider possibly moving out of the room once in a
while - and perhaps once a week trade watching
TV for half an hour with a walk - and you'll be
back on track.
However, Congratulations on being the most
intelligent of the 7 deadly sins...

^Aloha...wow. What can be said but wow?

^It's time for some arithmetic.

1 Taria
+1 surprise party for Louis
+20~40 Jell-o shots
+5 beers
+3 different meddlings in others' affairs
+ the 800 million people there that night
+ at least 300 various subplots of my life

^And an enthusiastic hello to the newest editions to my best friends list:
Carrie, Andy, Noreen, Wenke, Jacob and Ken

^That is all...thank you.

^Aloha...I reached a new level of enlightenment after I realized that "All Your Base Are Belong To Us"

^If you don't click on this link RIGHT NOW you're only cheating yourself.

SOMEBODY SET US UP THE BOMB!

^That is all...thank you.

^Aloha...hahahah I will rebel against the system!

^Why do professors like to hear their voices so damn much. I'm sitting in english right now and I swear to you that my professor just said the same three things over and over again for the last ten minutes. Oh look, there he goes again. Blah blah blah, homework...blah blah blah, Cubs...blah blah blah, freebees...blah blah blah, your next assignment...blah blah blah, that tiny little black number I was wearing last weekend. Christ, does he ever shut up? I thnk we need to impose some word limits here...

^And now a word from the village idiot. Someone really needed to drown this guy a long time ago. I might venture to say that nothing worth hearing has ever come out of his mouth...not only in this class...but never in his life. The little miscreant just tried to pick up one of our classmates: "Hey, you smell good, what are you wearing? And did you want to come to my apartment later and make it smell good too?" I didn't know such a level of swarthiness was even possible...And to top things off, he visits the official ninja webpage every time we come into the computer lab. What the fuck? Does he plan on being a ninja? If so, can I set up a battle to the death with another ninja, sell tickets and keep the revenue, and enjoy his immense injuries?

^Be it resolved that I will be bringing my poisonous blow darts to class...and I will use them liberally...very liberally...

^That is all...thank you.

^Aloha...No, Catherine, my name cannot be Freschetta...

^In case you were wondering, this, as opposed to Steve... is my current obsession...

WHY HAVEN'T YOU CLICKED ME YET?!?!? HURRY UUUUUUPPPPP!

^If you're good I'll post something legitimate later on.

^That is all...thank you.

Monday, September 22, 2003

^Aloha...Hey, do you live at the airport? Cuz, damn, you're fly! {Mad props are due to room 224 for that one...go Krisitn and Taria}

^Anyway, I have a ton to say, but some of us are up at 2:30 in the morning when we have a class at 9:20. I am some of us. But I just wanted to tell you that I am trying to familiarize myself with this whole HTML business and it is not as easy as one might think. So for the next few days you may see some strange and unsettling things occurring on this page. But be assured that all will be remedied in the end.

^Eeeeekkk...this Herbert Kornfeld/Freschetta/Booty needs to get to bed. It's raining outside and I'm listening to 33 over and over. It's gonna be a good night. Until I get pelted in the back of my head at 8:45 with a nerf gun...many thanks Kyle...

^That is all...thank you.

^Aloha...{I am so naked right now}

^ SOOOO I wrote my first poem about sex today. It was pretty awesome. And I have to say that I never thought Honors Statistics was a /sexy/ class, per se, but now I know much better.

^ I don't know how things really got started in that particular direction, but I know that I can't ever focus during that lecture, so today I decided to let my newly energized creativity run wild. I started doodling the lyrics from a couple of Maroon 5 songs (which I have been listening to a ton lately - thanks Bb's) and then I wrote a couple of things with encoded messages in them which I will gladly reveal once the parties concerned have been "taken care of." (Hahah Ris). But anyway, I suddenly found myself wondering what I could write about and why I had never written anything about sex before. And then I did. And here it is.

And heat welled up
From some place I had never tasted before
As you consumed my fire -
Sinking your fingertips
As far as you could
Into me
Because you knew
That is what I needed you to do.
This strange love
That wears down my innocence
Feeds a desire
You press so far to satisfy
And I try so hard
To fall away from.

^Now I know I'm byass, but I kind of like that poem. There's just something very secretly sexy about someone "sinking their fingertips" into you. I don't know, the animalistic nature of the descriptions are a real turn on.

^So thank you college, for letting me write about sex when I should be learning.

^That is all..thank you.

^Aloha... {Holy shit, I'm a collgiate bastard now aren't I?}

^ Well I don't know if I will actually switch over to a live journal any time soon. I was just feeling some misdirected anger at the blog program. I'm currently enrolled in a twelve step program that should help me manage that anger and realize that the computer program doesn't give a flying fuck about what I want.

^Anyway, I have immersed myself into college so much so that I can't even remember what I was like before this particular moment. I am so high on this new life and I never want to come down. I have never been so happy in my life. Not to bring in an air of condescention, but Omaha fucking sucked for the most part. And it is so nice to finally be rid of all that old bullshit and baggage. Now I have new and exciting bullshit and will soon accumulate new and improved baggage. I can't fucking wait.

^But in all actuality I really have never known such a feeling of contentment. Now this is not to say that things are just completely fucking peachy keen, as that would be a huge fucking lie, but really...I'm happier than you are. Yes I am bragging. Yes I am a pretentious bitch. Yes you would just love to kick my high and mighty ass.

^Just kidding about that whole pretentious business. I have actually been nicer than I have ever been in my life in the last two weeks. I think a lot of this stems from the inner peace I was telling you about. And not to get all psychoanalytical but I think I've spent so much of my life trying to get to know all the people I've come into contact with that I never took the time to A) Let people get to know me and B)Let me get to know me. And I've really tried to concentrate on those things and I feel so much better. I promise I will stop being so fucking mysterious. But you have to admit, that's what lured you into me in the first place..,plus being mysterious makes me really really hott. Just kidding.

^Well I think that's enough in-depth analysis of Taria for today. Join me again tomorrow to learn why it is that I can't stand people that fold their shirts in half!

That is all...thank you.

Buona serra fair citizens...i have officially switched over to a live journal, as opposed to this blog nonsense. perhaps i will still post here as opposed to there but then again i am in college, and so cannot guarantee any postings at all...i will let you all know soon enough just where it is that this live journal resides.

Friday, July 18, 2003

^ One more thing. I still dislike people. And let me tell you that it really bites quite a bit when you create something for someone and they abandon you without effort to make things better or even so much as a "thanks." I'm rethinking my willingness to be nice to... people. It seems to only get me screwed over. And I don't like being screwed over. It sort of itches.

^ So Jennifer, I hope you are completely happy with the new life you've created for yourself. Because in the process you lost a great friend. And I know that means nothing to you, because you seem to have the inability to take one look outside yourself and realize that the things you do affect other people and you can't just go around using people until you have fulfilled yourself and wreaking havoc in the world in the process. And I know it's useless to say these things because you have to come to the maturity of the realization on your own, but it makes me feel better to say it. And I think it is due time for me to start doing things that make /me/ feel good. I have wasted too much time considering your feelings and how I could try and do my part to make things right in the world over what is was that I needed to feel good. I need to make up for that time.

^That is all...thank you

^ Aloha fair...peoples. I am not a dork, nerd, or geek deep down inside. I'm not sure what's down there, but it's none of the above.

^ I know I have been absent for some time. I apologize for the excess laziness, but the total upheaval of my life as I have known it tends to make me a little tired. Anyway, I won't spend too much time musing on the days of yore and just say that my social life as I had come to know it has officially expired; replaced with enough drama to fill out MTV's programming schedule for close to the rest of my life. But HAZAA! (cue ominous lightning and thunder) In the former social life's absence, a new, far less defined and therefor far less restrictive, and in my opinion just plain better social experience has popped up.

^ I think I have made it past the "trauma" phase where I am flustered and frustrated over trying to fix everything and have settled fairly nicely into just going with the flow. I fgure that in 5 weeks when I leave I won't remember half the shit that's been going on, so why stress over it? I have to admit that the new attitude has done wonders for me, including lowering my blood pressure in the last two or three weeks from 142/84 to 112/64.

^Really, I'm not kidding about that blood pressure. Who would have thought that apathy could do a body so good?

^I feel an ad campaign coming on...

^ That is all...thank you.

Saturday, July 05, 2003

oh, hell. i should not still be awake.

the 4th of july was another day spent communing with nature. for the most part. after "winning" 1976's ever so morbid titanic board game against alan and steve (my slouchy green porter, who rescued 4 passengers, three barrels of water, and two crates of food while having island/sea adventures, managed to paddle the lifeboat to the rescue ship first), building a massive furniture fort, and watching things get blown up, i should really not still be awake.

not to mention i promised to be conscious at some ungody prenoon hour today so i could recieve help building my new blog. well, looks like the wisest option right now is sleep, so i'm off... to... allow my head to play out wacky adventures for me while my body rests. whee.

rachel's cabin: two incarnations of the s.s. s.a.r.s. complete with a water-retaining sword, a pirate flag (which was really more tyler's cape than anything else), and a bunch of fun noodles. i was thisclose to stepping on them fishies. and on the long journey home, i got to sing along to the rent soundtrack with a guy. correction, with my boyfriend. the concept which, if you look at it objectively, just seems pretty fucking awesome. but maybe that's just because i would have never dreamed of singing along to *anything,* much less a musical about aids, with colin. sometimes, pleasantly surprising stuff like that just has to happen to remind me what a different relationship situation i'm in. i guess three years in the same place makes being given the opporunity to sing a couple cheesy duets seem like heaven. but oh well, this is my head we're talking about, it's not supposed to make sense.

also... after waiting a little over a week (in business days) for the infamous (and absent) shirts, i found out today through the site's faq that all clothing is made to order, a process which takes 9-12 business days. and so i have learned that instead of wasting anticipation on arrival all week, i should have probably limited my anticipation to cheering on the general existence of these purchased items. so, according to my wicked math (and calendar browsing) skills, alan's t-shirt and my hoody thing which proudly proclaim "what the world needs more of is science" should arrive... sometime next week. or never. never is always possible.

and now, it is that time: the time to stop snacking on the frosted mini wheats i raided from the kitchen, brush my teeth, and go to bed... for there is much to be done later today, and many items just crying out to be blown up. listen... can you hear them?

Wednesday, July 02, 2003

finished stranger in a strange land like... five minutes ago. what a book. i see how easily it can clarify a belief system - it sort of reiterated a couple of things i'd already felt about life and religion and whatnot. anyhow, i've been scouting around online, playing with the idea of starting my very own blog before i leave for college. i know taria doesn't post anymore, but she still has control over the majority of the inner workings of this page. that syntax error...*thing* !! it yells at me every time i try to access this site! i don't understand it, but i'm pretty sure i could wheedle someone else into fixing it if i had that level of access. so... if anyone wants to volunteer to coach jen-who-does-not-play-well-with-technology during her great schism with get off my island, feel free to make your intentions known to me. i'll love you forever... in a mostly platonic "i'll be grateful but probably only do something nice like cover your food or a movie once" sort of way. but still... the satisfaction of aiding in my web logging independence should be good enough. if all else fails, i pay in family fun center tokens and peanut m&ms.

damnit. now i'm done with stranger, i can no longer hide from the deathgrip of the iliad. this *college* business... man.

Sunday, June 29, 2003

we have these nectarines from baker's that came "certified ripe" (the sticker said so), and they are unbelievably good. maybe they're full of secret chemicals designed to keep them in such a deliciously ripened state, but if poisoning is the price i pay for quality fruit, i am willing to pay it. after all, if i'm going to die in a dramatic fashion, a lethal dose of "certified ripe" nectarines will do just as well as tuberculosis. i just wish i could *smell* this snack. my body's been in a pre-ill state lately... sort of lethargic and ill-wont to adventure, plus a bothersome stuffy nose. and i *just* recovered from that other thing...!! oh well... with enough rest and vitamin c, maybe i can force my weak immune system to fight back against this one.

and filed under the heading of recent events, i finished order of the phoenix. in fact, i believe i won the harry potter race against alan's sister... though i'm not sure she was aware we were racing at all. the critics weren't kidding when they said that book was dark. hilarious in some places (i heart fred and george, oh man... sparklers that spell 'poo'... it's genious), frighteningly true to life in depicting teaching situations in others, and pretty much... dark overall. i'm still working on stranger in a strange land, which peter lent me. and once i'm through that... the iliad awaits. learning. *sigh*

hm. amdist the sniffles, i think... i need... sleep. goodnight.

Wednesday, June 25, 2003

holycrap it's early. i made it to chapter 30 (from chapter 19, mind you... *with* musical distractions and an hour of jewelry making) before deciding sleep might be a good option. but look where i ended up instead.

oh well, no use hiding the fact that it is currently... 4:30 in the morning and i am still awake. sorry alan, it's just the way it had to be. i really wanted to finish book 5 tonight, but if i'm going to be conscious during daylight hours at all, i should probably get to that resting thing. man, i guess your sister's going to win the harry potter race. no matter, i'm pretty close to my usual bedtime anyway and i'm slowly growing accustomed to getting 7 or 8 hours of sleep over 11 or 12. the former is most likely better for my general health and well being anyway.

Tuesday, June 24, 2003

(insert screams of pain) oh my lord, my stalking muscles kill. i am so out of shape. it hurts to lean forward, it hurts to walk up stairs... who am i kidding, continued existence hurts. but on the up side, i've been laying in bed all day, and i am now exactly half way through book 5. i'd forgotten the activation phrase for the marauder's map is "i solemnly swear i am up to no good." i think we should all be required to swear we are up to no good every now and then. for official purposes.

(insert afterthought) gordon j. binky III's chariot of doom could use a good cleaning. and i could use a good sandwich. just thought i'd let you know.
laser tag: like a rave... where you shoot people. exhausting, but unbelievably fun.

my cold (that is all it is - my doctor swore the throat culture was negative) is better, my reading list is longer (reed just sent me the iliad for my learning pleasure), and my relationships with others can now be classified into three easy categories (wacky adventures, average low-commitment summer correspondence, and recently ceased). all in all, life is looking up. then again, that's probably just an after effect of the whole new relationship thing. love is a drug, and it does a lot less damage to your lungs than... other... drugs.

and so, because running rampant with a gun in a multileveled blacklit cube filled with pulsing trance beats and cunning adversaries has pretty much stolen my energy, i am going to go to sleep.

Friday, June 20, 2003

oh man. i usually don't post twice in one day, but i feel i need to share this with the world. look at all the wonderful emails i've been recieving as opposed to the italy trip email i've actually been expecting from my latin teacher.

from: hank subject: your-septic-system-needs-aid
for some reason, i thought of hank from king of the hill when i read that, and it made it all the more fitting.

from: rjnr subject: Are you good at research?
i didn't write an ap english paper devoted entirely to the use of trivial objects in lillian hellman's plays for nothing, did i?

from: FREDDIE MOOTE subject: Warning: free sensual content!
for one thing, i'm glad i was warned. but really, i just love the way it was worded.

you know, i never got to go back to sleep. after the appointment, dad had a camera store he wanted to visit, we got lunch, and came home. and as i was standing in my bathroom listening to creepy scratching sounds coming from the wall (it's birds on the roof and not a squirrel trapped in the bowels of the house - dad swears), lindsey stopped in to get a ride up to jensen tire. she's the bakery overlord at super saver on 144th and Q now, so... stop in and buy donuts from her. even if the rest of the store seems skeevy, rest assured the bakery overlord has been keeping the pastries deliciously sanitary.
wow! things keep happening!

sickness: less fever, more cough. bothersome. spreading to others... quickly. will visit the doctor if symptoms persist.

relationships: officially broke off the business with colin. but everyone knew that already. it hurt a little more than i thought i would, but i guess that proves i'm not the heartless destroyer of love i'd had myself pegged to be. conscience... always comforting. i'm also guessing everyone already knows about alan. if not, well... it's like this - we're constructing a doomsday device in my garage... out of household appliances... and mice. but keep it on the dl, kids! we wouldn't want any nasty rumors spread, would we?

adventures: thanks to the greenfields garage sales, i now own two toasters (a 4 slot *and* a 2 slot), some scarves, a little monster finger puppet, a purple arty candle, a "fur lined pot," and half of a hibachi grill. alan owns the other half of the grill in addition to a $15 microwave, a "vintage" suspiciously taped-shut game of risk, the other purple arty candle, a hideous belt (it was free, like my scarves... who can complain) and a wicker frog. now gordon j. binky III has an automotive mascot counterpart whose body is similarly hollow for the convenient hiding of illicit things... or cookies... or illicit cookies.

future adventures: jen is a harry potter geek and has already reserved her copy of book 5. she will be picking it up at midnight. she may have other wacky (and most likely sugared up) individuals in tow.

responsibilities (or... the reason, aside from the fact that certain individuals decry my sleeping schedule, that it's time for me to wrap this up): dentist appointment at the ungodly hour of 10:45. that means i have to wake up at 9:30. in the *morning*!! i am coming home and going back to sleep. disturbances will result in a firm verbal chastising.

and with that, i am off. to... dooo... things. at least i won't be draining away the hours online. i'll be... constructive! reading! aww baby, don't be like this.

Sunday, June 15, 2003

i am... very confused. technology and i don't get along well to begin with, but now blogger's making my posts vanish and reappear. it's... unsettling. yesterday's/this morning's post vanished after i wrote it, reappeared two seconds ago, but never posted or published when i hit the button.

summary of dead post: went to ren faire. bought "sinister" wings. upon returning home, i safety pinned them to the back of my computer chair, and now my reflection in the monitor looks damn cool. trust me on that one.

so, on to more pressing matters. i am sick... again (surprise, surprise). don't know what it is, but i have a low grade fever and a sore throat. it's not in my lungs this time, so i'm just going to wait this out and hope i don't die. and if i've managed to get alan sick, then congratuations are in order on the occasion of our first shared disease! let's hope it's not fatal.

speaking of fatalities and such, i'm going to try to wrap up all this craziness with colin tomorrow if my ill internals are up to it. and even if they aren't, because i know this stuff needs to be taken care of. ah, the social processes of life drudge on.

Saturday, June 14, 2003

friday the 13th came and went. it appears i am still alive.

molly and allyson have been sent off to nationals with a two page scavenger hunt of wacky. sample items include Covin (1,000,000 pts.), mullets (50 pts. each), a live mouse (500 pts.), and barf bag puppets of P and Hawk (100 pts. each). extra points will be awarded for pictures of inflatable mascots, molly touching a clown, allyson touching a squirrel, and kimmy kissing a picture of hitler. it was decided that acquiring a certain signature braid would warrant "winning" the scavenger hunt. i suppose doing well at nationals would also warrant the title of "winning," but i think sam would do just as well with a stolen hotel-copy gideon's bible (100 pts).

as for the personal life, things are a bit crazy right now. for those of you who have been *out* of it, yes - i have not been answering my cell phone. i apologize for the inconvenience and the fact that i've been a sucky friend or for giving the appearance that i am dead, but frankly, i'm lazy and... otherwise occupied. maybe there's a reason i haven't been answering your calls, or maybe i've just accidentally missed them... either way, i suppose all will be revealed in time. or at least before i leave for reed. and for those of you who are *in* on all of this, those movies are due back later today. considering the gravity of the situation, perhaps i shouldn't be so casual about this, but... hot damn, this smells like a showdown!!

Thursday, June 12, 2003

current: good stuff... and bad stuff. naturally. ah, "stuff" and "a lot of things." that's me, doing ap english proud. that's just what you get, you mla touting learning fiend! so. long story short, good stuff took the forefront in the last leg and ultimately won the race for emotional precedence. the bad stuff i will deal with... later. after i finish telling reed whether or not i think i eat well (i don't) and if i'm physically fit (you have got to be kidding). crazy medical forms.

until next time... hell, you know the drill.

Monday, June 09, 2003

inside of us, our organs are in little compartments... like ziploc bags. this arragement is useful in situations when one may find one's self, say... upside down, flipped 360 backwards, and strapped into a little cage at a fairly large height from the ground. thus is the beauty of amusement park rides... and coelem, nature's plastic wrap.

taria may or may not be dead. i'm working on figuring this one out. though based on the amount of times she calls my cell phone, i'm going to have to go with "alive, but not posting." i may be flying solo here this summer.

man... i feel unusually warm. it's sort of radiating; i can feel it... it's pleasant. i could get used to this.

until next time, see you on the other side.

Sunday, June 01, 2003

i would say something meaningful... like how my brainmeats are bustling with activity tonight... but frankly, i'm just too damn tired. what a long, wacky day... full of socializing, styx scavenger hunts, kiddy pianos that play techno, and one great pomeroy show at the ranch bowl. days like these rock. and now, the exciting journey to bed. goodnight.

oh yeah, and i bought that card. it had a little balloon on it and the inside said something about lifting my spirits. the walmart thing i'm working on. i think i'll stop in sometime next week.

Thursday, May 29, 2003

so...early. and still, those thingsthatmustbedone hang over my head. like that birthday card i keep reminding myself to buy. my mother's birthday was the 27th, and my dad /did/ buy a card from the both of us, but... a part of me itches with guilt that i didn't buy her a card myself. her birthday just happened to fall on the morning i got home from my night of debauchery at peter's and frankly, i was aiming for "lay down on the couch and pass out for three hours" as opposed to "go to the mall, brave interactions with other people, and joyfully buy mother a card." what a crappy daughter i am. i will go shopping, mom... i will go today.

Reed is also expecting mail from me. more mail than ever, because they keep sending me things, and those things keep piling up on the dining room table. i am notoriously lazy... i should work on that. in addition to housing forms (which, by the way, are due june 15), i think there are financial whatnots and an academic survey laying around. supposedly, my counselor-person wants to know what i think my learning style is, etc. well... math and i do not get along. everything else is fairly decent. and i'm arty, so i guess that means i'm a visual learner.

another snag i have hit recently revolves around the issue of a photo for my Reed id. i'm supposed to send one, but my senior pictures are not (in my opinion) very accurate representations of me. i'd go so far to say they're downright sucky. to remedy this, i intend to go to walmart soon and scout photo package prices. to all of you, my associates, who did not recieve a senior picture from me: if you want a walmart headshot, tell me. i'll even write on it.

on a completely unrelated note, it seems as if colin has been borrowing my social drives. while he has been actively seeking his friends, i've been hiding in my house. i just don't want to go anywhere for some reason. i'm a chick... it's probably horomones. maybe i'm turning agorophobic. it's too bad i didn't pay more attention to that particular division of ap psych. it's strange... there's just this little funny little ache that's preventing me from wanting to do anything. i'm not exactly sure what's wrong with me, but i'm giving into this antisocial demon. i figure if i hide in my house long enough, maybe it'll go away. then i can test my associates one by one and figure out who's causing it. the pepetrator will be summarily dealt with. or i could go with some mundane solution like 'it'll disappear on its own.' but where's the fun in that?

oh man. if the length of this post is any reflection on the future posts of this summer, i'm going to be whining about things a whole lot. oh well. where else is it going to go? someplace healthy, like a good, long talk with my parents? i thought not.

until next time, see you on the other side.

so. we're free... we're finally free. i guess, in my absence, i've bypassed such exciting events as...

VISITING REED!! where it rained a lot and i saw lots of sulky (but facinating) looking indie kids.

PROM!! where we ate at Zio's and Colin bonded with Covin.

AFTERPROM!! where Kaylan and I became Super Troopers and FreakyRobb played a freaky game of giant twister.

AFTERAFTERPROM!! where Colin and I slept at Kaylan's house, ate muffins, and were detained by sirens and eerie, rotating clouds.

TED TURNER DEBATES!! where my partner Sarah and I learned more than I wanted to about Iraq and its need to be rebuilt.

GRADUATION!! where 12 years of learning came down to a rose and an itchy hat. I mean cap. An itchy /cap./

And that's about it. If there's anything else... well, there's no guarantee I'll feel the need to inform anyone, but... it may get posted. Until next time... again, you know the routine.

^Aloha...You think you know, but you have no idea. This is the diary of Taria's trip to Vanderbilt.

................DAY 2................................................................
^ I started the day out by skipping my third VU activity. During registration we signed up to visit classes: one for 9:10-10:00 and one from 10:10-11:00. I wanted to go to Music Theory II at 9:10 and a freshman seminar on the credibility of theatre at 10:10. MT II is in Blair which is about a 20 minute walk from Vandy Barnard (my dorm) and the seminar was in Neely which about a 2 minute walk from Vandy. SOOO I figured that I couldn't make the walk from Blair to Neely in 10 minutes and I hate to leave things early or get there late...so I just stayed in until time for the lecture, which turned out not to be a lecture at all but a really cool class. We talked about the difficulties of casting. Then we took a look at a two page play by Beckitt (crazy ish) and then came up with a directing concept. It was a good time.

I
^ Next up was the student panel and lunch. This means that we all sat in a hall and ate mediocre food and asked questions to the students- some we really shouldn't have - and they answered - some really shouldn't have. But I did meet Aaron. He's from Hobbs, NM...he is so nice and so smart and so sweet and so HOT. I have spending a great deal of time with him. I also met Courtney. She is from Alabama. She has an accent like you wouldn't believe, but she's a sweetie so I forgive her.

^Next was the dean's chat for the various schools and the group meetings based on interest. This was where my plans for college were completely crapped on. OK, I'll start from the beginning. The way a double major works here is that you have one "home" school where you have you first choice major and then you have your second school with your second major. They are not equal. You must pick one over the other. I was planning to have things equal. No dice. Anyway, from talking to the Blair (school of music) I realized that I want the vocal to be my first and A&S (arts and sciences - theatre) to be my second. Cool, right? Nope. I applied to A&S as 1 and Blair as 2, so now I have to switch that around. After my Blair session I forgot that the Humanities group session wasn't meeting until 3:15 and went to the room at 2:15..the pre-business meeting was at 2:15. But I didn't realize that until about 2:45. So this guy has been talking about the joys of economics and I love economics. And since everything happens for a reason now I'm wondering if I wandered into this meeting for a reason and should have my second major be economics instead of theatre. But if I do that then there is about no chance that I could study theatre in graduate school. I need that undergraduate degree..AHHAHHHAHJAHHAHAHIOdh;ewfja;djcakljnJIKJAJKLDSFJKLAJSDFJDFKSCLSD...that is how I felt. I don't know what I will do about this.

^I skipped my fourth VU activity. But I had every intention of going. There was a pajama party at The House last night and Sharon (one of the CBFs) and her prospectives wanted some cute pajamas, and since Leah had a car..well...we ended up going to Target and spending over an hour there. I kept mentioning that we weren't going to make it back...but they insisted we would. The Banquet started at 6:00...we got back to campus at 7:30. Needless to say I did not go.I hate going to things late remember? This one should be ruled as not my fault.

^I skipped my fifth VU activity. They had a thing called VU live where several acts of students from the school showed off something apparently very cool. It started at 7:30 and was kind of a stroll in stroll out as you please deal. I left my room at 8:00 to head down to Langford (which is about 15 minutes away) but then I was hit with a sudden wave of laziness when I got to the first floor. I got my book of crossword puzzles, my discman, some snacks from the vending machine and staked my claim on one of the oak study rooms they have downstairs. Hey, I was enjoying myself.

^We went over to Branscomb (the dorm where you hang out before you all go to a party together) at 11:00 and went up to Char's room (yeah, another Char...also one of the CBFs). We were going to go to PF Chang's (there's one down the street) but we thought it was closed so we just chilled in Char's room. The floor that she lives on smells funny in some places. Her roommate likes Vodka...a lot...I have pictures. I also encountered some very very drunk girls on their way to go get some breakfast. I was thinking about taking their picture but they kept falling down...Anyway, Char is really slow getting ready so we didn't get to the party until 12:30. On the way out we stopped by Alli's (CBF) room and met a couple of guys. Char took 3 shots: one vodka, two jell-o. We proceeded onwards. There was a rule that girls could only wear 4 articles of clothing but I didn't think they would really check. They did...very carefully. Don't worry, I didn't do anything. Well, the party was lame. It was great for the people that were dry humping, those who were drinking, and those who we "littering, and uh.." but for the rest of us...well, I danced for a while but then gave up and me and Alicia from Brooklyn (airport group) decided to leave. Only Leah locked her room and left the key in Char's room, which was also locked. After hunting them down I stole Char's key and Alicia and I went back to Branscomb. When the elevator got there these 3 guys got off and one was told us to be careful and that he'd had a little accident. He said he was kidding...but when we got on there was this putrid looking pond in the middle of the elevator that looked like a mix of beer and milk. There was a milk carton on the floor next to an open beer can. It's college, go figure. When we got to Char's floor we were greeted with the remains of an omelet splattered on the floor. I think that was a present from the drunk girls. I got my stuff and we proceeded to walk back in the direction of our dorms (she was in Peabody which is about 15 minutes from Branscomb). We got to ride in the clean elevator and when we got off we were greeted by A COUPLE OF GUYS QUOTING SUPER TROOPERS! When I acknowledged I knew what they were talking about they seemed very very impressed. So you see, everyone should watch that movie on a regular basis.

Now it's about a 10 minute walk from Branscomb to Vandy and about 7 minutes into that walk I realized that I forgot to get the key to Leah's room. Back to Branscomb. Back to the strange elevator. We passed the Super Trooper Boys again and pondered over whether or not liter was really French for "give me my goddamn drink."

^ I made it back..I talked to Jen online, tried to subliminally influence her to break up with Colin...I went to bed. End of day 2.

^That is all...thank you.

^Aloha...You think you know, but you have no idea. This is the diary of Taria's trip to Vanderbilt.

...............DAY 1............................................................
^ So I have to be at Vanderbilt by 1:00pm, right? Well that's cool, no problem. Only my flight from Omaha leaves at 7:00, which for those of you in the world who are flightularly challenged, means I need to be at the airport by at least 5:30, probably earlier considering there are going to be 200 band kids clogging the security trying to get to Anaheim for their trip. All of this added up to me gettting up at 4:00 AM. Which was maybe a little early, but maybe not considering the fact that I hadn't packed. It's not as bad as you think. I folded all my clothes and organized everything and set it next to my suitcase. I just didn't put it in. Hey, I was merely engaging in game of extreme procrastination..although, if it were really a game, maybe in the winter olympics, it would be XTreme Procrastination...or Loafing...yes... I am the XTreme Loaf champion...send me money!

^The flight to Atlanta was mostly uneventful except for the severe turbulence... I just pretended I was on a roller coaster. A very big, very high, terribly overpriced roller coaster...

^ Now, you know you're in HOTlanta when the airport plays Nelly instead of elevator music. I was in a little shop buying cheap postcards for Kimmy, Molly, and Allyson for their trip to ATL this summer (and dropping 10 bucks for film - which unfortuantely I found out was NOT made of gold) when what should I hear but the intrumental synthesized version of Dilemma playing softly in the speakers as if it were supposed to be soothing to the day's travelers. That was quality.
Also quality was the absolutely gorgeous guy that I met while sitting at the gate for my flight to Nashville. I had a 3 hour layover at the airport and was looking forward to spending some quality time doing the crossword - but when he came and sat down all that went out the window. We introduced ourselves and compared boarding passes. I was sitting in12D and he was sitting in 12E ... we would be sitting next to each other. This made me very very happy...in that scheming sort of way. We worked on the crossword and talked about people walking by..it was wonderful. Then the gate next to us started boarding for another flight and he asked me if I was was ready to go...I was crushed as I realized that he was actually sitting in 12E on the flight to El Paso...damn.
But HOTlanta did not leave me hanging. As we were pulling at the gate I caught a glimpse of something horribly orange out of the corner of my eye. When I looked out of my window I was greeted by a jet with a giant owl on the side. Yes, you are correct in thinking that it was a Hooter's jet. A HOOTER'S JET!! Hooter's Air to be exact. That made me laugh...You know what else made me laugh during that flight? The Simpsons. Yes, The Simpsons. The in-flight show was the episode where Homer blows the house mortgage on Jack O'Lanterns and borrows money from Patti and Selma and they make him their pseudo-slave. All in all ... I'd say I had an XTremely positive traveling experience...

^Bah...I skipped going to Music Theory II this morning to type this up, but I'm going to a freshman seminar on the credibility of theatre...I gotta run, but I'll finish this later...

(time is passing)

^Hey there...man that seminar was intellectually stimulating...now I'm all turned on...my brain that is. Anyway, I got my bags and found the VU table and met some potential classmates....many of them are from Miami...they are all cool... one of them is hot. He has one blue eye and one brown eye. When I was told this I immdiately started analyzing the biology behind it, talking in biology terms of dominant and recessive genes. Everyone thought about it for a minute and then looked at me funny. We all realized that everyone here is intellectually ahead of the game so we don't have anything to prove. THAT MEANT WE DIDN'T HAVE TO BE SMART FOR THE REST OF THE WEEKEND!! We took a smoke pit smelling charter bus to campus and went through the whole registration process which was terribly unorganized. I like this, makes me relax a little bit. Not even seriously overpriced universities are perfect so why should I have to be? I lost a mitten at the registration...that made me sad. We divided into groups and did a scavenger hunt as a tour of campus. Well, I should say we were supposed to do a scavenger hunt as a tour of campus. I skipped my first VU activity. Our group was hungry so we went to the PUB and got some food instead. It wasn't all cheating. The PUB was one of the places that was worth bonus points in the hunt ... and while we were there we took a picture by the naked statue in Saratt's (student center) courtyard...more bonus points. I think that out of the 100 potential points we could have gotten, we got 6. Not too bad if I do say so myself.

^Leah is my host. She is from Arkansas. She is crazy. She has introduced me to the black folks here and they are crazy too. I like them. They make me feel like going to their parties. Oh wait, I did...and will again later on tonight.

^ I skipped my second VU activity. Instead of going to a coffehouse/poetry reading, I went with Leah and the CBFs (crazy black folks) to Chili's. It was nice because I was breaking the rules. Then we came back to our room and learned how to dance to Britney Spears, N*SYNC, Jordan Knight, and Sean Paul...it was that video with Darren someone that they advertise on tv....it was crazy...but now I know the dance to "Crazy".... And then I went to bed. End of day 1.

^That is all...thank you...

^Aloha...you know it's disillusioning the way life works out. I was in semi-zombie "leave me alone people or I'll eat your brain" mode all weekend while I was in Hastings, and now that I'm home my stupid stupid overachieving brain won't shut up. Actually, I was in a very spicy mood this weekend. Thank goodness there were chaperones...RAR.

^So did anyone else notice how the sky cracked and leaked everywhere? (Which, I might add, could have waited and come on a day when we had school.) On the drive home from Hastings today I counted twelve vehicular miscalculations. People tried to pick a fight with nature and nature won...by a lot. I have to say, I don't appreciate all this snow business. It's a nuisance that only serves to add undue stress to my life and maybe lessen the sting of drought. But drought is the least of Taria's worries. On the list of "1 Google of Thinks (yes thinks) That Plague Taria's Mind," drought is down there with unironed blouses and massive attack on the world's supply of ash trays - which, mind you, is still higher than fear of the return of shag carpeting.

^ Speaking of Hastings, that was in fact this weekend. The past three days were a great lot of fun and though I hate to brag (or do I?) I think our host family was the best of all. Hell, they got us junk food and chocolate for Valentine's Day and we got to break into their house when they weren't home last night. Now, how many times will I get to have an experience like that? So far...twice.

^ But really, Hastings was a good time - except for the part where they told us the interstate had all but gone to Hell and our parents couldn't get through and we were going to have to spend another night in the semi-backwards odd-smelling unclean cave that is Hastings, NE for another night. I made aquaintances with some very very nice people this weekend. Those of you who know me pretty well can decipher that to mean that there were two guys who sat behind me who I would have loved to do terribly horribly wonderful things with...All in all, it was a great experience from which I returned having learned, grown, and retrieved 4 phone numbers, 6 emails and a lot of pleasant dreams.

^Hot damn, I think I can actually HEAR it snowing again. sigh.

^That is all...thank you.

Taria... yes, you called. I was reading Death of a Salesman upstairs and I guess my parents thought I was sleeping. I'll call you back... later.

Oh yes, and that flu? Not the flu - bronchitis. Nothing beats knowing you've shared infected food and drink with countless associates. I'm set for two weeks of anti-cough pills that make me feel floaty, several friends who may be sick in the coming days, and one (agonizing, if this cough doesn't improve) forensics tournament next Friday. Whee.

Until next time... well... you know the drill.

Friday, February 07, 2003

^Aloha! Oh man, there's nothing like a massive hangover and waking up naked next to an extremely attractive - also naked - man...

^ So I'm here in this secret location getting the chance to experience my fair share of college life. It's a lot like being in a documentary or one of those "behind closed doors" A&E specials; so far I've been present for a little partying and insider trader information on things like the order of general attractiveness of the frat houses, the walk of shame, the social hierarchy, who I can be seen with and who I can't, my status, and so on and so forth. Basically, I get all the behind the scenes, dirty, grity info. It can have a painful likeness to high school at times, minus the structure and supervision, and here most everybody gets along...so...I guess it's not really like high school at all. Thank you, Jesus. I appreciate this.

^ So naturally your next question is, "Gee, Taria, what's the deal with your status - are you popular..and...like...stuff?" Well, from all accounts, it seems as though I am excellent social standing. I might even go so far as to say that I am, indeed, popular. Everywhere I go I meet someone new that has heard all about me. There is a buzz attached to my name. Apparently it flies around going....buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuzzzzzzzzzz........
I don't know how I should feel about this. Should I feel special and hug my pillow at night knowing there are people in the world that love me? Should I don a low-cut shirt, jeans, clunky shoes and three tubes of masacara and dive head-first into heavy-hitting partying? Or should I just go to bed? Yeah...I think that's the one.

^That is all...thank you.

^Aloha! This message comes to you specially from a secretive location somewhere outside of Wet Jimmy's Assmeats.

^So I haven't blogged in a long long time. I would apologize, but then I'd have to type more...and ...well...you know how that goes.

^Jen, I'm going to make an indecent proposal to you...so remind me to do that the next time I see you.

^ In any event, consider this a blog entry. I know it is for the most part, incredibly incoherent and that you don't understand most of what I just said. That could be because I'm so incredibly inebriated at the moment....teeeheee....teeeheee...gotta practice if I'm ever gonna get that St. Anky's scholarship...hey P, will you write my recommendation?

^That is all...thank you

Sick again. This makes the third time in about a month. This one's the flu, I think. I've had a temperature off and on for the past three days and everything hurts... it's like my entire body has decided everyday operation has become a nuisance. I came home 6th hour for lunch and found out I had a temperature, so I didn't go back for World Religions... which turned out to be a good thing. While I was laying on the couch in a fever-stupor, the mail came. Reed wanted to talk to me... apparently, I'm in. So yes... I'm smiling... all is right with the world... or at least, it would be if I could stop coughing and if the monitor didn't waver and slide off to the left of my vision every now and then. Fluuu... need more pills...

until next time... see you on the other side.

And now (Tonight, at the Don Stroh Building!), one continuous inside joke.

"Wet Jimmy's Gourmet Assmeats, do this be pickup or delivery?"

"Oh, this is Taria, calling on behalf of the City of the Music Office. I need to place an order for our upcoming forensics tournament."

"I see. Are you looking at ordering the same stuff as last year?"

"I think so. Except... do you guys carry liquors? Because we're a little short..."

"Uh, lemme check the inventory list. Yeah, yeah we do. How many do you need?"

"Eleventy million and threeve. Oh, and throw in some 12 packs of Pepsi bottles, too."

"Done and done. Shall I bill it to your account?"

"That would be great."

"Let's see... that's eleventy million and threeve liquors, sixteen cases of original recipe assmeat, ten of cajun, ten of cool ranch, and ten of honey mustard. And a couple of 12 packs of Pepsi bottles. Is that all?"

"I think so."

"Okay. You can pick that up whenever's convenient... we'll refrigerate it for the next three days. After that, you'll be able to find it in the dumpster out back... I recommend you not let it sit in there for too long - the homeless guys will probably eat it. Oh, and say hello to the good folks in the City of the Music Office Amphitheater for me."

"No problem."

Fin.

Oh yeah, and happy new year.
So... Winter Play Girls' Night Out. Literally no sleep. Made creatures out of b'loonies, everyone's favorite poly vinyl acetate plasticky balloon-making toy - B'loonies float in the tub or pool... fun for girls and boys! Watched Se7en. Constructed a spoon launching weapon from a rubber band, several twist ties, and the hotel's styrofoam cups. Didn't really "bond" with the young 'uns as I should have, but drew wings on Molly and stiches on Sam's toes with my fushia Sharpie. All in all... a satisfying experience.

Until next time, see you second semester.
