mood: time to observe the siesta
music: alex ubago - sigo buscando

argentineans say funny things to me sometimes:

¨what?! you went to münchi´s instead of freddo? i don´t think we are talking ANY more...¨ -- matty, my host sister´s boyfriend (münchi´s and freddo are competing ice cream chains)

¨if you do not use the tupperware, if you put the whole pot in the refrigerator, you will go to the hell. immediately¨-- copete, my host father, on the subject of opitmal conditions for storing the leftover rice

(as she searches in her purse to find her ringing cell phone)
¨if your cell phones ring in class, i will kill you. literally.¨ --elina, my spanish teacher

¨take joe, for example. every day he sleeps for 10-15 minutes during class. and he thinks i don´t know...¨--sylvia, my other spanish teacher, on the subject of strange mannerisms of american students

¨there are always some problems with the ies students having an argentinean boyfriend or girlfriend. in four months you will have to go back to the united states. june and july are always terribly dramatic months with people dying and crying all the time...¨--sylvia

¨if you are still not feeling well, you must be quiet with the manteca...¨ --eugenia, my host mother (manteca=butter...i was making toast)

¨oh i love the BAFICI! i like to go after midnight...they have the CRAZIEST stuff...like, left-wing communist porn! i LOVE it...!!¨--ariel, my anthro prof (BAFICI=upcoming indie film festival)
